Swedish wave energy developer CorPower Ocean and the Centre for Ocean Energy Research (COER) at Maynooth University, Ireland, announced a new collaboration on control technology for optimising the operation of Wave Energy Converters (WECs).

Together, the two organizations will bring the latest developments in control engineering into full-scale wave energy equipment.

Professor John Ringwood, director of COER said, “We are excited to be partnering with one of the premier wave energy technology companies globally in the drive to delivering economic wave energy. Wave energy has an important role to play in balancing grids and increasing the reliability and viability of 100% renewable energy.”

“We are thrilled to strengthen the collaboration with Professor Ringwood and his group, bringing some of the brightest minds of this field into our development and demonstration efforts,” said Dr. Jørgen Hals Todalshaug, lead scientist at CorPower Ocean.
