ORE Catapult Strengthens Board

UK’s technology innovation and research centre Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has appointed Alex Smith, Group financial controller, risk and insurance manager of Forth Ports, to its Board.

Chairman, Colin Hood, said: “Alex brings extensive financial experience having worked in a variety of roles within PricewaterhouseCoopers, including external audit and transaction services across a wide variety of industry sectors. Prior to joining Forth Ports, she was seconded to the Scottish Government’s Energy Directorate to help establish the Renewable Energy Investment Fund. She will combine her financial and renewable energy experience to further strengthen the Catapult’s finance, risk management and governance practices.”

Alex Smith added: “I’m very much looking forward to working with the Catapult team to grow and strengthen the organisation at this critical time in the development of the UK’s offshore renewable energy sector.

“The sector is on course to be a vital part of the future global energy mix and organisations such as ORE Catapult are essential in making offshore renewable energy a UK and global success story.”

Over the next five years, ORE Catapult will continue to drive offshore renewables innovation to grow UK businesses and reduce the cost of clean energy. Working with industry, government and academia, it provides leadership and coordination of the sector’s innovation priorities and supports industry through testing, demonstration, validation and research, enabling success for UK innovators.
