Green Marine will be supporting lead contractor, SIMEC Atlantis Energy, in delivery and installation of an AR-Series tidal turbine, foundation and offshore cable for the project in the Goto Islands, located in the Naru Straights in Nagasaki.

Being part of the first installation of a commercial scale tidal project in Japan with SIMEC Atlantis Energy is an important milestone in Green Marine’s international growth strategy, the company said.

Jason Schofield, managing director of Green Marine, said: “For Green Marine to work alongside Drew and his team in the Atlantis Turbine and Engineering Services Division (ATES) and have the opportunity to export our services overseas to Japan is an honour and a huge step for our company. This is an important development for the global tidal energy sector and we are pleased to be at the forefront of the internationalization of an industry that is now on a steep growth trajectory. We look forward to getting into the detailed engineering and planning over the coming months and the final installation offshore in the Goto Islands along with Japanese companies.”
