PMEC and Partners to Host WEC Design Workshop

The Pacific Marine Energy Center (PMEC), Oregon State University and Sandia National Laboratories are organizing a 2-day workshop to offer a hands-on understanding of the wave energy converter (WEC) design theory and experimental testing approach.

O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory

The workshop will pay specific attention on dynamics, control, signal processing, experimental design and analysis, and full-scale design.

The workshop will be targeted at graduate students, early stage career researchers, or research scientists who work in, or are interested in, wave energy conversion.

Content will be taught at a high level, with the goal of introducing concepts to allow participants to better understand the “big picture” and do further reading in areas of interest after the class.

The course will take place over two eight hour days – February 3-4, 2020 at the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory. The course will include both classroom and experimental wave tank testing of a model-scale WEC device.
