Minesto Seeks Servo Drives

Swedish marine energy developer has invited tenders to apply for the delivery of servo drives for the development of a 100kW marine energy converter in form of a subsea kite tethered to the sea floor.

As explained in the earlier articles, Minesto’s Deep Green technology generates electricity from low-flow tidal streams and ocean currents by a principle similar to a stunt kite flying in the wind.

Minesto will receive a €2.5 million grant from EU’s SME Instrument Programme for the development and operation of its Deep Green technology in the Faroe Islands, where Minesto has engaged in a collaboration agreement with the main power generator and distributor SEV.

In addition to this grant, the Swedish Energy Agency has also awarded Minesto a SEK 12.5 million ($1.3 million) grant for the development of the company’s marine power plant DG100.

Deadline for receipt of completed tenders has been set for June 26, 2019, with estimated contract award date set for July 5, 2019.
