PhD Course on Modelling and Control of WECs in Rome

The University of Aalborg, the Institute of Marine Engineering (CNR-INM) and the Universita degli studi della Campanina, Conisma are organising a PhD course on the numerical and experimental modelling and control of wave energy converters.

The course will take place at INM in Rome, between September 09-20, in the week after the EWTEC 2019.

The main objectives of this course is to train the participants on the numerical and experimental modelling and control, by teaching:

-The State of the Art of wave energy conversion techniques;
-The State of the Art of numerical modelling of WECs, the limitations and the alternative numerical approaches;
-The State of the Art of experimental modellling of WECs and its limitations;
-The State of the Art of control of WECs.

By the end of the course, the participants will have carried out the following tasks:

– Wave measurement and generation in wave tank;
– Numerical investigation of the performance of a WEC;
– Experimental investigation of the performance of a WEC with and without control.

To ensure full benefit of the course participants should at least have:

– Degree in Engineering;
– Basic knowledge of Matlab or any other programming language.
