Inyanga-Tech Foundation Connection for Minesto’s Subsea Kite

Minesto has completed the procurement of the foundation connection system for the DG100 model of the company’s subsea kite technology called Deep Green.

A contract for design and development of the system has been awarded to Inyanga-Tech, with Quoceant as main sub-supplier.

The foundation connection system connects the DG100 kite and its tether with the seabed foundation and the seabed umbilical cable. Forming a key part of Minesto’s upgraded launch and recovery system, the system proposed will be adopted for all next-generation power plants of Minesto’s marine energy technology.

The new design will not only enable the DG100 kites to freely operate in their unique figure-of-eight trajectory, but also reduce the time and complexity for launch and recovery operations, hence increasing overall system availability.

Sinisa Joveljic, project manager for the development of Minesto’s DG100 Project, said: “We are pleased to work with Inyanga-Tech to develop the DG100 foundation connection system. In firm competition with other tenderers, one of the significant factors in selecting the proposed Inyanga team was their experience of integrating electrical wet mates and mechanical connectors in a marine environment.”
