Video: SEENEOH test site in all its glory

The video shows the recently inaugurated SEENEOH tidal energy test site, located on the River Gironne, at the heart of the French city of Bordeaux.

Officially inaugurated on March 1, 2018, the SEENEOH tidal energy test site features three testing births suitable for proving tidal devices with either mounted or floating fixation type.

All three testing berths are connected to the onshore substation through their export cables, with a grid connection that has a total capacity of 250kW.

One birth – the floating platform named Bilbao – is already being used since January 2018 by the French hydokinetic technology and project developer HydroQuest which is testing its 80kW device.

The turbine features two compartments hosting two turbines each, and it is expected to remain at the SEENEOH tidal site for one full-year of testing.

Irish company DesignPro will be the second user to use the site for testing purposes. The company plans to deploy its 25kW hydrokinetic turbine this April for a full year of testing at SEENEOH.
