ETIP Ocean shows how to streamline ocean renewables projects

The European Technology and Innovation Platform for Ocean Energy (ETIP Ocean) has released the recording of a webinar whose aim was to showcase tools for the optimization of ocean renewable energy projects.

The webinar hosted Raymond Alcorn from University College Cork’s spin-out company Exceedence, and Encarni Medina-Lopez from the University of Edinburgh as speakers.

They discussed different optimization tools and their role within ocean renewable energy projects.

Optimization tools can streamline ocean renewable energy project planning, with features ranging from optimal array designs to financial analyses, according to ETIP Ocean.

Projects using optimization tools are more likely to be successful, ETIP Ocean said.

They also gain a method for assessing and comparing performance which can be useful for future decisions and in stage-gate programs.
