French wave company starts device construction

Hydro Air Concept Energie (HACE) has begun building its full-scale wave energy device prototype in France.

The company said on social media the construction of its wave energy device is currently underway at the facilities of the French construction specialist Groupe Ponticelli Frères.

HACE has over the past 4 years been developing a wave energy technology that divides the swell to recover energy from all types of waves, with the ability to produce power from small waves of up to 30 cm in height.

The 200kW full-scale prototype is expected to be launched in the first half of 2018, according to HACE.

The construction start follows HACE’s fundraising campaign conducted over the last year, where the company managed to secure €850,000 for device buildout.
