NTNU in need of postdoc wave energy researcher

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has an opening for a postdoctoral position related to wave energy research.

The postdoc researcher will work at NTNU’s Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering as part of the Horizon 2020 IMAGINE project, led by Umbra Group.

The IMAGINE project targets an innovative method for affordable generation in ocean energy, through the realization of innovative power take-off systems and control strategies for wave energy converters, according to NTNU.

The position falls under ‘Design, Modeling and Implementation of Advanced Control Techniques for Power Take-off Systems in Wave Energy Converters’ topic, with the expected duration of 2 years.

The scope of work includes the identification of the most suitable power take-off control strategies in constrained conditions, and the optimization of the overall power performance of a specific electro-mechanical generator – designed in cooperation with the project partners.

Also, the postdoctoral researcher will be tasked with building integrated and flexible simulation models suitable for the subsequent Hardware-in-the-Loop implementation of the proposed concept, NTNU noted.

The deadline to apply for the position has been set for January 12, 2018.
