METS 2018 calls for wave & tidal abstracts

Marine Energy Technology Symposium (METS) is looking for abstracts related to tidal and wave energy converters to be presented during the event scheduled for spring 2018.

The 2018 METS will consist of technical presentations and poster sessions that address the technical, environmental, economic, and societal aspects of wave and current energy converters.

The organizers behind the event said that authors who wish to be considered for an oral presentation are required to submit a 3-4 page extended abstract describing their work.

Authors interested in presenting a poster are required to submit a shorter 300-word abstract, the organizers added.

Specific areas of interest include engineering research, development, and demonstration of systems and components through simulation, laboratory experiments, and field testing.

Also, METS is looking for tidal and wave abstracts related to assessment and characterization of resources through simulation and field measurements; environmental effects; economic assessments; and societal research and policy developments related to marine energy.

The 6th annual METS will be held as part of Waterpower Week in Washington on April 30 through to May 2, 2018, at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Waterpower Week, organized by the National Hydropower Association (NHA), is comprised of three co-located conferences, which in addition to METS, also features International Marine Renewable Energy Conference (IMREC) and NHA Annual Conference.

The deadline to submit abstracts for oral presentations has been set for January 10, 2018, while the materials for posters should be sent in by February 15, 2018.
