ORE Catapult tenders for eGrid power analyser

Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult is looking to procure a Power Analyser System to be used for the eGrid project at its Blyth testing facility.

The Power Analyser System will be used in the 15MW wind turbine and 3MW marine drive train test facilities which will link into the eGrid allowing the measurement of current and voltage usage from the eGrid system, ORE Catapult said.

The objective of the project is to develop a 18 MVA Grid Emulation System (eGrid) that will be used for conducting electrical power quality tests, with the possibility of accelerated validation of wind and marine renewable energy devices in a controlled environment.

The deadline for applying to the tender has been set for November 1, while the contract has been scheduled to start on November 24, 2017.

To remind, ORE Catapult awarded a contract to GE Energy Power Conversion UK for the supply of the fully containerized eGrid system back in April 2017.

ORE Catapult was established in 2013 by the UK government as its flagship technology innovation and research center for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy.
