EU opens €1.5M wave and tidal monitoring call

European Commission’s Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) has launched a call for proposals for projects related to environmental monitoring of wave and tidal devices.

The general objectives of this call for proposals are to increase environmental data on the potential impact of wave and tidal devices, and to reduce uncertainty in modelling potential impacts of such devices.

Also, the call aims to develop a more efficient planning and consenting procedure based on a risk-based approach to ocean energy licensing.

The call was launched today, October 16, 2017, and will be open for submissions until January 18, 2018.

The total budget earmarked for this call is €1.5 million, with the possibility of increase by maximum 20%, EASME said.

EASME expects to fund 2 to 4 proposals, which should not exceed the duration of 36 months, the agency said.
