CalWave seeks Senior Ocean Engineer

US-based wave energy developer CalWave Power Technologies is looking for a Senior Ocean Engineer to join its team and assist in the development of full-scale wave energy prototype device.

The Senior Ocean Engineer for CalWave should have extensive expertise in offshore/marine and mechanical engineering and demonstrate superior skill in designing marine structures, project development, and design of complex mechanical systems, the company said.

The scope of work for the position includes dealing with primary equipment that involves hull structures, moorings and anchors, linear/rotary mechanical actuation such as hydraulic circuits and winches, ballast tanks and SCADA system.

CalWave is developing a submerged pressure differential wave energy device, which won the second place at the Wave Energy Prize competition, organized last year by the US Energy Department – securing $500,000 cash prize.

After that, the company received additional funding through the US government’s programs, including the Small Business Vouchers (SBV) pilot initiative, to further advance its wave energy device.
