Schottel Hydro has released a photo of the SIT 250 tidal turbine ahead of its shipment to Scotland for the installation on the PLAT-I platform.

The SIT 250 tidal turbine has been fully assembled and tested at Schottel Group’s facility in Germany, Schottel Hydro said on social media.

The turbine will soon be shipped to Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) where it will be mounted on the surface floating tidal platform solution known as the PLAT-I.

The SIT 250 is a horizontal axis free flow turbine capable of producing between 54 and 70kW rated grid-ready electric power based on rotor diameters between three and five meters, and depending on the current velocity.

The PLAT-I platform has been designed to float on the surface of the water while hosting four Schottel’s SIT 250 turbines, with the total capacity of 268kW.

It will be deployed for trials off the coast of Strathylde in Scotland later this year.
