Innovacorp appoints new chief

Nova Scotia’s early stage venture capital organization Innovacorp has named Malcolm Fraser as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The Nova Scotia native, Malcolm Fraser, has a bachelor of commerce in marketing and economics from Mount Allison University.

Frazer is also board chair at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, research committee chair at Destination Canada, a board member with the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation and Sobey Art Foundation, and past chair of what is now Digital Nova Scotia.

Rodney Burgar, Innovacorp’s board chair, said: “Malcom is an entrepreneur, through and through. He’s build and led a technology company and he’s hustled to acquire clients and raise capital. Recently he led his company through a successful acquisition by a national company. Malcolm joins us at an exciting time as the start-up ecosystem in Nova Scotia expands.”

Commenting on his appointment, Fraser said: “I’m eager to dive in, get to better know all the players in our star-up ecosystem and strengthen Innovacorp’s contribution to the community.”

Innovacrop works to find, fund and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups. Earlier this year, through collaboration with Offshore Energy Research Association of Nova Scotia (OERA), and Nova Scotia’s Department of Energy, Innovacorp provided funding for research projects looking to advance tidal energy sector.
