CorPower hunts for senior wave power engineer

Swedish wave energy developer CorPower Ocean is looking for an engineer with relevant mechanical experience to assist the company with the development of its wave energy technology.

CorPower is seeking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its international team of approximately 25 members, who will be the primary owner of design and testing of mechanical modules of the wave energy conversion (WEC) system.

The company has developed a wave energy converter whose design was inspired by the pumping principles of the human heart. Using phase control technology, the device operates in resonance with the waves with an increased power capturing capabilities, according to CorPower Ocean.

The scope of work for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer also includes producing 3D design and 2D drawings in Solid Works, as well as supporting procurement activities, and factory acceptance testing in addition to providing pilot installation support.

CorPower noted the candidate should have a broad technical knowledge and genuine interest in the different aspects of machinery and mechanical design, along with the knowledge of gear box technology, pneumatics, hydraulics, structural optimization or electricity generation equipment.

The deadline to apply for the position has been set for September 18, 2017.

To remind, the half-scale CorPower’s device, called the S3, delivered first power to the Swedish grid during dry-rig trials in Stockholm back in May 2017.

The device will be shipped to Orkney Isles in Scotlad in fall this year where it will undergo ocean demonstration trials at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).
