Minesto delays Deep Green installation. Hires new supplier

Minesto has postponed the installation of its Deep Green tidal plant for 2018 to facilitate the delivery of new foundation for the plant that will be supplied by Jones Bros Ruthin Civil Engineering. Also, the global consulting firm Arup has been assigned the task of completing and verifying the design of the foundation.

Subsea 7 to cooperate with Flumill on tidal technology

UK-based offshore engineering company Subsea 7 and Norwegian tidal energy player Flumill have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on the development and design of Flumill’s patented tidal technology based on rotating helixes. Flumill has already completed several scale tests of the concept, including the one at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in 2011.

Aqua Power Tech tests wave energy prototype

UK-based wave energy research and development start-up Aqua Power Technologies is currently conducting tests on one of its wave energy prototype in North West England. Later this year, the company is expected to deploy two fully operational units off the coast of Shetland and the Orkney Isles for pre-commercial trials.

Eco Wave Power raises $3 million

The Israeli wave energy company Eco Wave Power (EWP) has closed the second round of its fundraising campaign, having secured $3 million for the delivery of project pipeline. The funds will be used to expand EWP’s team and enable faster execution of its 130MW of projects required to support EWP’s growth and expansion strategy.

Wave-tricity awards marine support services contract

Welsh wave energy developer Wave-tricity has hired Williams Shipping to tow its 150-tonne wave energy device in the Milford Haven area. In addition to towage services, Williams Shipping will also perform laying, recovery and servicing of moorings for the 26-meter long Ocean Wave Rower device.
