WES hunts for PTO gatekeepers

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is looking to appoint external experts who will provide independent assessments of the projects that will proceed to the next stage of WES’ power take-off (PTO) development program.

WES is looking to engage the services of two suitably qualified and experienced individuals who can provide independent and impartial expert advice during the assessment of stage gate applications, moving from the stage 2 to the stage 3 of the program.

WES’ first call technology area was for secondary energy conversion technologies, the PTO systems, which closed on May 22, 2015.

The call took the form of a three-stage program, with applications originally invited for all three stages. The process to move from one stage within the process on to the next is known as the ‘Stage Gate Process’.

The experts will read and independently evaluate a number of applications, covering both technical and commercial elements, to ensure adequate technical expertise is available during the assessment of stage gate applications, according to the Scottish government’s procurement portal Public Contracts Scotland.

The contract is expected to last for 5 months, and the deadline for applications has been set for August 14, 2017.
