Wave-tricity calls for wave services

Wave-tricity is looking to appoint contractors for various support services related to its wave energy development plans.

Pembrokeshire-based wave energy developer Wave-tricity is seeking towage and maritime support services provider who would be in charge of towing its 150 ton wave energy test barge in the Milford Haven area.

Also, the contractor should be able to provide towage at short notice to support recovery of the barge in the event of an emergency.

The deadline to apply to the tender has been set for June 9, 2017.

Furthermore, Wave-tricity is looking for design, engineering, maintenance and fabrication support for a wave energy research and development barge, that will be situated in the Milford Haven until July 2018.

The contract will be a service agreement and work allocated on a call off basis up to a maximum value of £400,000, according to a notice published on Welsh government’s procurement website Sell2Wales. The applications to the tender are due by June 8, 2017.

To remind, Wave-tricity received £4 million from the Welsh European Funding Office for the development of its wave energy device back in 2016. The device, called Ocean Wave Rower, has been deployed for trials off Pemrokeshire in March 2017.
