Australia-based CSG Exploration & Production Services plans to build a 50kW pilot wave energy power plant in Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey.

The power produced from the wave power plant will be enough to cover the needs to 25 households, according to the West Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA).

The official agreement is expected to be signed in April by Zonguldak Municipality, Bulent Ecevit University, Zonguldak’s Special Provincial Administration, Environment and Urban Planning Directorate of Zonguldak, BAKKA and CSG.

BAKKA said the proposed wave power plant presents an important step in promoting the use of alternative energy sources, which could create positive investment climate for energy investments and increase awareness of exploiting renewable and clean energy sources in Turkey.

Following the signing of the agreement, the plant installation works will begin, BAKKA informed.
