EMEC calls for cable help

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is looking to appoint a marine contractor to undertake cabling works at its tidal testing site in Orkney.

EMEC has launched a tender seeking a contractor to undertake marine operations to prepare the existing submarine cable at its Fall of Warness tidal test site for the arrival of a new client.

The works will be conducted at the berth 2 of the Fall of Warness test site, which consists of 8 grid-connected berths for testing tidal energy devices.

The Fall of Warness site is located west of the island of Eday, lying in a narrow channel between the Westray Firth and Stronsay Firth.

The deployment of tidal device that will follow the completion of cable-related works is part of an EU-funded FORESEA project which last year selected 10 ocean energy developers to receive support to test their devices at one of four Europe’s leading ocean energy testing centers, including EMEC.

The deadline to apply for theĀ tender has been set on April 12, 2017.
