Bardot Group maps Indonesia for OTEC projects

 
French engineering company Bardot Group has shown interest to develop ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) projects in Indonesia.

Bardot Group signed an agreement to facilitate technology solutions exchange between the Indonesian and French companies within clean energy sector.

Through the agreement, Bardot Group said it will focus on expanding its renewable energy projects in the region by developing installations using OTEC and sea water air-conditioning (SWAC).

The announcement follows the creation of the French-Indonesian Renewable Energy Group, which was launched on February 28, 2017, in Jakarta by French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, and Indonesian Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan.

The newly established group is expected to deepen the ties between French and Indonesian renewable energy companies, and encourage French investments in Indonesia, according to Jakarta Post.

To remind, Bardot Group’s OTEC concept was approved by the classification agency Bureau Veritas.

The company plans to install the OTEC system in the Maldives by early 2018.

More recently, Bardot Group agreed with another French engineering company, Doris, to work together on the development the Maldives project, as well as other potential projects worldwide, with the aim to progress the development of OTEC sector.
