SINN Power bags BEE Innovation Award 2017

SINN Power has received recognition for its wave energy technology from the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE).

German-based wave energy developer SINN Power was voted as the most innovative renewable energy startup at BEE’s New Year’s Reception held on February 16, 2017.

The company received the award for its wave energy converter from more than 1,000 selected industry experts and decision, SINN Power informed.

German Renewable Energy Federation (Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie – BEE) is the umbrella organization for German renewable energy associations. It represents more than 30,000 individual members and companies active in wind and solar energy, biomass, water power and geothermal energy.

SINN Power’s wave energy device generates electricity as the motion of the waves lifts the floating bodies of the individual modules, which in turn lift a rod that runs through a generator unit, which in turn produces power.

The device has been retrieved for maintenance and optimization, after having been deployed for one year at the Port of Heraklion in Crete, Greece.

Following the upgrades, the device will be reinstalled for another round of testing later this year.
