Tribute Resources takes stake in Tocardo

Tribute Resources has taken a 46.5% stake in Tocardo after its parent company Huisman sold its shares. The two companies have also agreed to work together for a minimum period of 5 years to jointly execute the business plan, with over 90MW of projects already identified for installation.

The consortia that delivered the Turbulence in Marine Enviornments (TiME) project will now offer a turbulence measurement and assessment service to the tidal power sector. It consists of a cost-effective measurement campaign, data analyses and performance assessment methodology.

Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTE) has received a permit to construct an ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) power plant in the Virgin Islands of the United States. The plant on the Saint Croix is expected to generate 7 to 15MW of power, with the construction costs estimated to be between $200 million to $300 million.

Penguin to take the plunge in Korea

Finnish wave energy developer Wello has teamed up with Korean company BSR to establish a wave energy demonstration project in Korea. Wello’s role is to bring technology expertise into the project, while BSR will provide the expertise in energy plant building.

WES launches £3 million innovation call

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) has launched its third competitive funding call focused on structural materials and manufacturing processes for wave energy technology. WES will cover 100% of project costs for the first stage of this three-stage programme by providing up to £250,000 per project of up to 12 months duration.
