Port Saint John, in partnership with Opportunities NB, will hold the New Brunswick Tidal Power Summit to support local businesses in seizing the opportunities from tidal energy developments in the Bay of Fundy, Canada.

Representatives from Marine Renewables Canada, the Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (FORCE), Port Saint John, and berth holders from Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, will be on hand to educate and engage local supply chain companies about tidal power project opportunities for the Bay of Fundy, Port Saint John informed.

Jim Quinn, President and CEO of Port Saint John, said: “Port Saint John and its industry stakeholders already have the location, experience, capabilities, and infrastructure in place to handle both the existing FORCE project test site as well as larger scale tidal projects that would be located in the Bay of Fundy. We are ready to service this important segment of the energy sector.”

Rick Doucet, Minister of Energy and Resource Development for New Brunswick, added: “Through a series of presentations and industry breakout sessions, we will determine the many ways New Brunswick businesses can play a larger role in the burgeoning Bay of Fundy tidal power sector.”

The summit will take place on June 27, 2016, at the Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal, Saint John.
