Atlantis boosts Scottish tidal momentum

Atlantis Resources has entered into partnership with Equitix to advance around 650 MW of Atlantis’ tidal power projects in Scotland. Through the partnership, Equitix plans to invest more than £100 million into Scottish tidal power over the course of next two years, with the intention to acquire at least 25% of each Atlantis project vehicle at financial close of that project, while working with Atlantis to prepare the projects for investment and achievement of financial close.

OERA is seeking requests for proposals to bring up to date the marine renewable energy infrastructure assessment study for the Bay of Fundy conducted in 2011. This new study is to provide additional details on the marine renewable infrastructure available to service tidal energy industry as it moves towards commercialization.

EC invests €2.5 million in blue growth technologies

The European Commission (EC) is investing over €7.5 million under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund to boost innovation, growth and jobs in the marine and maritime sectors, with €2.52 million designated for wave and tidal technologies.

MaREI pulls €750K for energy research

The Centre for Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland (MaREI) has received €750,000 funding boost from NTR Foundation, an independent philantropic organisation which supports projects and organisations in the area of renewable energy and sustainability primarily in Ireland, to investigate low carbon energy opportunities in the country.

Indonesia’s OTEC gets French funding boost

Akuo Energy, together with Pertamina and the French Agency for Development (AFD), have signed a grant agreement to foster the development of renewable energies in Indonesia. France, through the AFD, is contributing to this joint effort by providing a €500,000 grant specifically dedicated to the development of OTEC technology in Indonesia.
