VIDEO: Tidal Array Cabling Solution project

Take a look at the video of the recently completed first phase of the £2.4 million Tidal Array Cabling Solution project.

The first phase of the tidal array cabling project involved the installation and retrieval of Jee’s ‘U-tube’ cabling protection structure at EMEC’s Shapinsay Sound tidal test site.

Led by Aquatera whose role was to lift, move, position and recover the 50 m long Jee’s cable protection system, several support companies from Orkney’s marine energy supply chain were involved in the project as well, including Green Marine UK, Scotmarine, and Heddle Construction.

The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate effective methods of locating, securing, protecting and retrieving cables for tidal energy arrays.
