Marine Power Systems expands team

Marine Power Systems (MPS), a Swansea-based wave energy developer, has expanded its team with the appointment of a new design engineer.

After completing the internship at MPS, which involved the development of Marine Power System’s WaveSub device, Daniel Pérez Torres has been hired as a full time design engineer.

Torres will continue with the development of the quarter scale prototype of the WaveSub wave energy device that is expected to be tested at FaBTest later this year.

Daniel has completed a mechanical engineering degree at Queen Mary University, London and specialised in computational methods. Subsequently he completed a Master of Science degree in marine renewable energy at Plymouth University.

Gareth Stockman, Managing Director of Marine Power Systems, said: “We are naturally very pleased to expand our team further and offer Daniel a full time role as a design engineer at Marine Power Systems. he proved himself to be a bright individual, who was already very familiar with modelling and prototype testing of the unique WaveSub device.”

MPS was founded in 2009 with the purpose of developing and commercializing its WaveSub wave energy converter technology.
