Acta Marine’s Coastal Chariot to install BlueTec tidal platform

Coastal Chariot multi-purpose support vessel will be used for the installation of BlueTec floating tidal platform off Texel island, the Netherlands.

According to Acta Marine, the company has coincided the installation process with Van Oord Offshore.

The Coastal Chariot will tow and hook-up BlueTec tidal platform.

The vessel will then attach the platform to the seabed using four Stevpris anchors, Acta Marine’s press release reads.

After the installation, BlueTec tidal platform, equipped with Tocardo’s T1 100 kW turbine, will be connected to the Dutch grid.

It will serve as a demonstration platform, targeted at remote locations such as islands in Indonesia, Phillppines and the Pacific.

The BlueTec tidal project represents a collaboration of Bluewater, Damen/Niron Staal, Van Oord/Acta Marine, NIOZ, Nylacast, Schottel Hydro, Tidal Testing Centre, TKF, Tocardo and Vryhof Anchors.

Acta Marine is the Dutch maritime service provider that operates workboats designed for coastal and shallow waters.
