ENGIE: Competition for UK’s innovative clean energy projects

ENGIE (formerly GDF SUEZ) has launched Big Pitch UK – a national competition to find the UK’s most innovative companies in the energy and services sectors.

Companies, startups and entrepreneurs have been invited to pitch their innovative projects or ideas related to the following themes: energy efficiency, renewable energy, smart technologies and smart cities.

The winning submissions will have the opportunity to compete for investment from ENGIE’s New Ventures Investment Fund that will provide €100 million to invest in innovative businesses.

The best innovations will also be provided with coaching and assistance to help them develop and market their innovations.

Experts will select the most exciting innovative projects that will be invited to participate live at ENGIE Innovation Week events in the UK between 15 – 19 June 2015.

Submissions will be assessed against the following criteria: relevance to the identified themes, innovative character of the submission, maturity of the project, and feasibility and deployment of the project in the short term.

The deadline for the submission of application form is June 1, followed by the selection of the candidates to participate in ENGIE Innovation Week in the UK..

After the pitch sessions, the Panel, made up of ENGIE executives, local decision makers, entrepreneurs, and university representatives, will choose finalists who will have the opportunity to participate in the Final event in London on June 19.

Caroline Hopkins, UK Development Director at ENGIE, said: “Innovation is at the heart of ENGIE and the Group has committed €100 million to invest in innovative businesses around the world. Big Pitch UK is about uncovering the very best of the UK’s innovations in energy and services to ensure they get the support they need to succeed and make a real difference. I hope the winning innovations will play, with our support, a big part in the world’s clean energy future.”
