Franco-Scottish consortium inks GBP 2.5 mln SEM-REV deal

Consortium consisting of Scottish Hydro Group and French Wenex Equipments has secured GBP 2.5 mln contract for developing wave energy test site off France.

The project involves manufacturing and installation of the array cabling infrastructure on the SEM-REV marine renewable energy project 16 nautical miles off the city of Le Croisic on the French Atlantic coast.

The consortium will supply and install the array cable, multi connection hub and interconnection necessary for the deployment of a network of floating and wave energy generating devices, with Hydro Group specifically supplying and supporting the installation of the array cable and connector sub-system for the wave energy test facility, Hydro Group’s press release reads.

Graham Wilkie, Sales Director at Hydro Group, said: “The project is a key offshore wave energy test site, and the consortium brings together first-class equipment, technology and expertise, all recognised by ECN as offering significant benefit and flexibility to its facility.”

Awarded by Ecole Centrale Nates, the six month contract, that commenced earlier this year bring together a group of companies led by contract’s owner ETPO, including Hydro Group, Assystem, PSM, Tetis, and Flowline specialist.

Hydro Group specialises in the design and manufacture of subsea and harsh environment electrical and optical connectors, penetrators, cable assemblies and terminations for the oil and gas, renewable energy and defence industry.

Wenex Equipments core business is the sales representation of foreign equipment manufacturers in France, Monaco and North Africa, with the main business areas in shipbuilding, shipowning, navy and defense, offshore, oil and gas, energy production, renewables and some industry subcontracting.
