IRENA introduces new online tool for renewables projects

IRENA’s Project Navigator aims to facilitate the effective development of renewable energy projects worldwide.

The Project Navigator tool launched by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) provides project developers with the knowledge, tools, case studies and practices needed to support the successful completion of their projects, IRENA’s press release reads.

Adnan Amin, IRENA’s General Director, said: “This new tool makes it easier for project developers to initiate, develop, fund and complete renewable energy projects around the globe. It helps them overcome the barriers inherent in starting projects and, in doing so, facilitates the deployment of more renewable energy worldwide.”

The Project Navigator offers guidance to developers from the initial idea to the implementation. The financial navigator section also allows users to search for funding by renewable energy type and region, drawing from a database of funds available for project financing.

Roland Roesch, IRENA’s Senior Programme Officer and Project Navigator head, commented: “Finance is one of the major hurdles that must be cleared to create a successful project. The Navigator’s rich database of technical information can help developers overcome this hurdle.”

IRENA is an intergovernmental organization made up from 140 members (139 states and the European Union) that promotes the adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy.
