Protean Wave Energy names new president

Stonehenge Metals Ltd has appointed William Toman as the President of the company’s US subsidiary, Protean Wave Energy Inc.

William Toman has over 25 years of experience in energy inudustry management and development.

Toman has worked at California Polytechnic University where he led US Department of Energy funded study for developing national wave energy test centre off California.

Prior to that, Toman led the development of open-ocean, grid-connected wave energy testing and demonstration facility Humboldt WaveConnect.

He is a nuclear engineer holding a graduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Following his appointment William Toman commented: “I am delighted to be joining forces with Stonehenge so that we can drive the US commercialization program for the Protean Wave Energy Converter. California Governor Jerry Brown has recently called for having 50 percent of the state’s electricity to be from renewable sources by 2030 and wave energy is particularly well suited to contribute to this goal.”

Protean Wave Energy aims to become the first active wave farm developer off the coast of California, it is stated in their press release.

Stonehenge Metals Ltd has entered into into a binding option agreement with Protean Energy Limited to acquire Protean Energy Australia Pty Ltd, which holds the intellectual property titles, rights and licenses to the Protean Wave Energy converter technology.
