Offshore energy seminar scheduled for Isle of Man

The Department of Economic Development will host a seminar in London where the opportunities within offshore energy for Isle of Man will be discussed.

The seminar, part of the Rushlight Conference, will feature presentations from the Isle of Man Government’s Director of Energy Policy, Ken Milne, and the preferred developers of the wind and tidal projects within the Isle of Man’s territorial seas.

Representatives from DONG Energy, Manx Tidal Energy Ltd and Tocardo Tidal Energy Ltd will deliver updates on their proposed projects and potential supply chain opportunities.

Graham Cregeen, the Department’s Member with responsibility for Clean Tech and Energy, said: “The progression of renewable energy projects are anticipated to provide direct income for the Isle of Man Government, including an annual GBP 5 million boost to public funds as well as the creation of local jobs.”

The seminar is scheduled for January 29, and will be held at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London.
